Geno Auriemma

Luigi "Geno" Auriemma, born in Italy and raised in the United States, has become synonymous with excellence in women's college basketball. Since taking the helm of the University of Connecticut Huskies in 1985, he has transformed the program into a national powerhouse. Over his decades-long tenure, Auriemma has amassed an unprecedented collection of achievements, including 11 NCAA Division I national championships and six undefeated seasons. His teams have been defined by relentless defensive pressure and a fast-paced offensive style that has overwhelmed opponents.

Auriemma's impact extends beyond the trophy case. He has coached some of the sport's most iconic players, including Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart, each of whom flourished under his demanding but effective guidance.
