The Boy and the Dog (2025)

Half a year after the Sendai earthquake, Kazumasa Nakagaki, newly unemployed, stumbles upon a stray dog wearing a tag that reads “Tamon.” The animal’s owner perished in the disaster, and Kazumasa takes him in, quickly forming a bond with his family. Yet Tamon’s gaze always drifts southward, restless and searching. When Kazumasa finds himself in danger, Tamon vanishes. In Shiga, the dog reappears beside Miwa Sugai, a woman haunted by sorrow. Reunited, Kazumasa and Tamon begin anew—but the dog’s heart still pulls him south, bound by a promise to a boy.
