Playing the Ponies (1937)

The stooges get swindled into swapping their eatery for "Thunderbolt," a broken-down racehorse. After Curly gives Thunderbolt some spicy chili pepperinos, the horse bolts frantically toward the closest water source. The trio enters him in a major race. With Larry riding as jockey and slipping Thunderbolt the pepperinos, while Moe and Curly ride a motorcycle ahead, dangling a bucket of water as bait, they cross the finish line first and win.
