A second victim turns up dead, strangled with the Doctor's scarf, leading to his arrest and trial. According to outdated legal traditions, he must demonstrate his innocence by participating in a groundbreaking tachyon experiment involving time. The outcome of this test will supposedly determine whether he is guilty or innocent.
