Naruko's selfless act allows Sohoku to close the gap on Hakone. Fukutomi confesses he underestimated Sohoku's resilience, believing they would crumble under pressure. However, he insists that without a genuine ace, victory remains out of reach. In response, Imaizumi steps up, proclaiming himself as the new ace and vowing to secure first place for the team.
