During the Age of Reason, the revival of ancient white columns and marble brought the color white to symbolize virtue. For the extravagant JJ Wickelmann and the brilliant British innovator Josiah Wedgewood, white represented the core ideals of the Enlightenment, including justice, equality, and rational thought.
