Picking up from the last episode, the Angel Ramiel is burrowing deep into the GeoFront, aiming straight for NERV Headquarters. Following Shinji's narrow escape from a direct encounter, Misato formulates a strategy for EVA-00 and EVA-01 to eliminate the Angel. The plan involves using a positronic rifle to strike from afar, but it necessitates the complete electrical output of Japan to activate it.
