S01E01 A Woman's Place

Constable Maggie Doyle arrives in Mt. Thomas, braving a wave of sexism and the awkward situation of working alongside her former boyfriend, Constable Wayne Patterson, who is now married to Roz. Trouble escalates when local girl Sally-Anne is assaulted by her boyfriend, Bruce McLaren. She initially files a complaint but under Bruce's pressure, attempts to retract it. Realizing she can’t, she spirals into despair and tries to end her life, but Maggie and Nick manage to save her. Later, Maggie and Wayne confront farmer Mick Doherty over unpaid parking tickets. When his dog breaks free, Maggie is forced to shoot it, prompting Mick to retaliate with gunfire. Tom steps in to negotiate with Mick, and with PJ's assistance, they help him find a new dog.
