The discovery of a woman's body, brutally slashed with a knife, sends Wallander on a frantic search for the victim's missing daughter, prompting him to make a serious mistake. Meanwhile, in his personal life, he develops a connection with Linda’s father-in-law, a retired naval officer, who receives a threatening birthday message.
