S01E01 The Beginning

Arn Magnusson reflects on his childhood as a fearful crusading Templar in the fractured region of West Gotland, Sweden. He and his brother Erskin were close friends with Knut, the son of King Erik, until tragedy struck when a rival warlord assassinated the king during a sacred church ceremony to seize the throne. Following a near-fatal accident, Arn’s mother vowed to God to dedicate him as an oblate at the local abbey. There, under Abbot Henri and former Templar Father Guilbert, Arn honed his combat skills alongside his monastic studies. After killing a bride-robber in a duel, he seeks to quell a bloody feud with a proud neighbor.
