While visiting Potidaea, Xena and Joxer encounter Hope, who is impersonating Gabrielle. They realize they must prevent her and her terrifying child from wreaking havoc on the world. In the midst of this dangerous mission, Xena manages to rescue the true Gabrielle from Hope's clutches.
