In 1968, Shirley Chisholm makes history as the first black woman elected to Congress. Four years later, she breaks new ground again by becoming the first black woman to enter the presidential race. Facing rejection from the political elite, she finds her allies among a diverse group of supporters, including African Americans, feminists, and younger voters.
