Bat believes that a stunning painting bought by a charming friend is a counterfeit, as the original was destroyed in a fire. Determined to uncover the truth, he sets out to demonstrate that the artwork is a forgery. However, his investigation leads him into a risky wager, and soon he finds himself wrongfully accused of murdering a famous art critic.
