Allison, Eddie and Joy's daughter, returns home for the holidays to ring in the New Year with her parents. After receiving troubling news from her boyfriend, she seeks comfort from her mother, leaving Eddie feeling a bit left out. At the Woodcocks' New Year’s Eve celebration, Eddie tries to cheer himself up to make a good impression on Allison. However, as the clock chimes midnight and the new year unfolds, Allison comes to appreciate her "big, dark, angry, wonderful dad" just as he is.
