After fleeing from a D'Harens labor camp, Chase reunites with Richard and Kahlan, sharing urgent news about the Gar invasion now that the boundary is compromised. Together, they journey back to Hartland, only to discover that the town has drastically changed from the one Richard remembers from his childhood.
