After the death of his father, Chase Gioberti (Robert Foxworth) returns to California for Jason Gioberti's funeral, prompting reconciliation between two rival branches of a prominent winemaking family. Emma Channing (Margaret Ladd) grapples with guilt over her role in her uncle’s passing, leading matriarch Angela Channing (Jane Wyman) to offer her support. As Chase reflects on cherished memories with his father, he urges his wife Maggie Gioberti (Susan Sullivan) and their children, Cole (William R. Moses) and Vicky (Jamie Rose), to relocate to Falcon Crest after a challenging year apart. Angela, displeased by their return, devises a plan to undermine them, leaving her grandson Lance Cumson (Lorenzo Lamas) stunned by her intentions.
