The Shipman Files: A Very British Crime Story (2020)

S01E03 Episode 3

The ages of Shipman's victims played a crucial role in enabling him to evade detection while he committed hundreds of murders. Many of his targets were elderly or in poor health, which allowed him to exploit their vulnerabilities. Their advanced age often led to their deaths being attributed to natural causes rather than foul play, creating a facade of legitimacy around his actions. This manipulation of perception helped him maintain his reputation as a trusted doctor, ultimately allowing him to carry out his horrific crimes without raising suspicion for years.
