Phryne Fisher, the elegant private detective, sets off for the countryside with her loyal maid, Dot, to pick up her new Hispano-Suiza car. However, the allure of train travel quickly fades when Phryne finds herself wielding her beloved pearl-handled pistol to rescue a young woman and investigate the mysterious vanishing of another passenger's mother.
