Despite Eric's objections, Simon invites Mrs. Kerjesz, a Holocaust survivor portrayed by real-life survivor Rita Zohar, to share her poignant story during his class presentation. Meanwhile, Mary and Lucy attempt to strengthen their sisterly bond by irrationally disliking Matt's new girlfriend, which ultimately leads to hurt feelings and the couple's breakup. Additionally, Annie experiences emotional pain when Ruthie expresses her dislike for her mother after being tasked with cleaning crayon marks off the walls in her room.
