Alex finds himself unexpectedly defending a troubled young inmate who has been admitted to Hope Zion Hospital, while Joel forms a bond with a disfigured refugee, urging Dr. Dana Kinney to return and perform surgery on him. At the same time, as Charlie prepares for a standard procedure in the morgue, a familiar spirit appears, prompting intrigue among the hospital’s staff.
